Missouri man's proposal fail caught on camera

KANSAS CITY, Missouri -- A proposal is one of the most memorable moments a couple can have, but for one bride-to-be, things didn't go quite according to plan.

"It's been a long, ongoing talk," Ruth Salas said. "It was just waiting for that moment."

After four years of dating, Seth Dixon brought Ruth to their favorite spot in Kansas City's Loose Park.

"I knew it was good spot for us," he said.

A friend who had joined them for dinner that night started taking video of the moment, which soon took a turn for the worse as Seth dropped to one knee on a pedestrian bridge.

"That face," he said. "I was just completely shocked."

As he reached for the ring, it slipped out of his hands an onto the wooden planks.

"And of course I looked over the bridge, and I'm like, it really did fall," Ruth said. "I heard the plop of the ring, and I'm like, oh no."

As awful as it was, her friends do have a little fun with it.

"We have watched the video so many times, and I'll catch my husband, he'll be in the corner laughing," friend Staci Dabney said. "And for a moment, I'll be like, what are you laughing? And I'm like, oh, you're watching the Seth and Ruth video again."

Luckily for the couple, their friends helped them make the best of the situation.

"Next morning, we got done with church and we were all hanging out," Dabney said. "We had this idea. We need to go look for it, because I'm a wedding and engagement photographer, so I saw it, and I'm like this is the perfect shot."

Those memories with 30 close friends are saved forever, even though they couldn't find the ring.

"I don't have it on me, obviously, but it will all work out," Ruth said. "I mean, we really didn't finish the proposal. So I mean, I hope he would propose again."
