DUNDAS, Minn. -- A close, unlikely friendship between a preschooler and a World War II vet who were neighbors has survived one of them moving away.
Emmett Rychner, 3, and Erling Kindem, 89, became close friends when they lived next door to each other in Farmington, Minnesota. But recently Emmett's family moved to a larger house, and Kindem is moving to a senior apartment. But they're not letting 16 miles stand in the way of a friendship that already bridged an 86 year age gap.
