Alessi Presents In the Kitchen
In our segment "In the Kitchen," we challenge cooks of all walks of life to create a dish - using the ingredients we give them.

In our segment "In the Kitchen," we challenge cooks of all walks of life to create a dish - using the ingredients we give them. We unveil which ingredients they use at the top of the show - and they have to create a dish by the time we get to their segment.

Today's "In the Kitchen" contestants are the young sisters who we first met at our Peapod's Next Best contest. They are the owners of the home bakery NaNiNu Batter Cakes - Na'ilah, Na'imah and Nuriyah Johnson. While their expertise is baking, they wanted a chance to show they can do more.

We set out Alessi products that must be used, one protein and some kitchen staples - then the cooks need to work their magic!

Today's "In the Kitchen" contestants are the young sisters who we first met at our Peapod's Next Best contest.

Our Friends at Alessi sent the girls and a lucky member of our studio audience home with a gift basket of goodies. Visit their website for all the Alessi products. http://alessifoods.com/

The products were:

- Alessi pasta

- Alessi tomato sauce

- Alessi chopped tomatoes

- Alessi garlic puree

And their protein was shrimp.

Here are their recipes:

Shrimp Alla Marinara with Mezzi Paccheri Pasta

Ingredients

- 8 tablespoons Alessi extra-virgin olive oil

- 2 tsp Alessi garlic paste

- 2 pounds large shrimp (about 30), peeled and deveined

- Salt

- 1 24 oz Alessi All natural Sauce Marinara sauce FRA Diavolo

- 6 fresh basil leaves, torn into small pieces (optional)

- 2 tablespoons minced fresh Italian parsley

- Alessi salt and pepper

- 1 bag of Alessi Mezzi Paccheri

Pasta: Bring salted water to a boil add Pasta boil for 14 minutes.

1. Heat 4 tablespoons oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add garlic and cook just until golden and sizzling. Add half the shrimp, placing them in one layer in the pan. (If you crowd the shrimp, they will steam instead of fry.) Sprinkle with salt and pepper.

2. Cook, turning once, just until lightly golden and pink around the edges, about 4 minutes total. With a slotted spoon, transfer the shrimp to a plate. Repeat with remaining oil, garlic and shrimp.

3. When all the shrimp are cooked, pour the sauce into the empty skillet, and bring to a lively simmer, stirring to scrape the bottom of the pan. Taste for salt and add more if needed.

4. Stir in the shrimp, basil (if using) and parsley, and cook just until the shrimp are heated through. Serve immediately.
