CHICAGO (WLS) -- Spring is here, and that means it's time for garden fresh meals you can grow and make at home.

Tony Stallone with Peapod dropped by our ABC 7 studios to show us how to make two delicious dishes using chickpeas.

ABC salad (A Bulgur, Chickpea Salad)

Ingredients:

1cup bulgur (cook according to directions)

1/4 cup olive oil extra virgin

1 lemon, freshly squeezed

1 cup chopped green onions

1 can garbanzo beans, drained and rinsed

2 tablespoons of chopped fresh parsley

1/4 cup grated carrots

1 avocado, diced

Salt and pepper to taste

Preparation:

In a small bowl, beat together oil, lemon juice, salt and pepper, and set aside. Combine remaining ingredients except avocado in a large serving bowl and toss to combine. Top with avocado, pour dressing over and serve or refrigerate until serving.

Roasted Spicy Chickpeas

Ingredients:

2 cans chickpeas, drained and rinsed

1 tablespoon olive oil extra virgin

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon pepper, fresh cracked

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 tablespoon curry spice

Preparation:

Pat chickpeas dry with paper towel, then place in a large bowl. First add oil then toss coating chickpeas. Then add remaining ingredients and toss coating thoroughly. Transfer to a large baking sheet and spread evenly. Place in a 450 degree oven and cook for 10 minutes, remove and turn chickpeas rotating to ensure even browning, return to oven for 10 additional minutes or until deep brown and crispy. Let cool and serve, any leftovers transfer to a plastic bag and seal for later enjoyment.
