Starbucks, using a new official Pumpkin Spice Latte Twitter handle, @TheRealPSL, quietly announced on August 7 that the fall favorite will return at the end of summer. On August 25, to be precise.
@TheRealPSL plans to reveal the secrets of how to get the beverage beginning on August 25 and hints a Pumpkin Spice Frappuccino might be available as well. If Starbucks stores know the "official" release date, baristas aren't saying. One Chicago Starbucks employee said the product is in that store, but wouldn't say when, exactly, the drink would be available.
The announcement was met with mixed reviews on Twitter, and a few glances at the calendar. Fall officially begins on September 23, 2014.
"How do we make this a national holiday?" @maryegilmore asked. "I'm so happy I can't even deal," @KiraaCheyenne declared.
Other tweets are more reserved about the early resurrection of this drink. "I'm taking a stand," declared @trishaleighKC, "I will not be ordering a pumpkin spice latte until we've had a day below 65 degrees."
But perhaps @jennykutner said it best: "The Starbucks pumpkin spice latte will be back in ten days because what are seasons anyway??"
