CHICAGO (WLS) -- A former football player at Julian High School was shot and killed Sunday night in the Washington Heights neighborhood, police said.

Jeremy Tang, 20, was found inside a car with a gunshot wound in the driver's side of a vehicle in the 800-block of West 102nd Street at about 8:40 p.m., police said. Tang was transported to Christ Hospital, where he later died.

Tang's mother said he was an honor roll student at Miles College in Alabama. She said that he was not able to go back to school this fall due to finances and was working two jobs.

Chicago police are investigating the shooting.
