CHICAGO (WLS) -- Chicagoans rolled up their sleeves for a good cause, donating blood to the American Red Cross.

Saturday's blood drive was held at King College Prep in the North Kenwood neighborhood.

The American Red Cross says there is an urgent need for blood and platelet donations as blood products are being distributed to hospitals just as quickly as donations are coming in.

ABC7 is partnering with the American Red Cross next year for their 100th anniversary.
