CARE Package celebrates 70th anniversary
CARE fights poverty, responds to humanitarian emergencies, and advocates for policy change to improve the lives.

For 70 years, the humanitarian organization CARE Package has helped families around the world in times of desperate need. In 2015, CARE worked in 87 countries, launching programs to fight poverty, responding to humanitarian emergencies, and advocating for policy change to improve the lives of the poorest people. CARE places special focus on working alongside women and girls because they have the power to lift whole families and entire communities out of poverty.

CARE began in 1946, sending packages of food and supplies to WWII survivors in Europe. On May 11, 1946, the global humanitarian agency CARE delivered its first shipment of CARE Package at the port in Le Havre, France. On May 11, CARE will celebrate its 70th anniversary, and mark a milestone of over 100 million CARE packages distributed around the world. Joan Lundgren, from CARE USA, sat down with ABC7 to talk about the impact of CARE packages and how you can help.
