CHICAGO (WLS) -- A new study of calls to poison control hotlines shows that a child suffers a mistake when getting medicine every eight minutes. Research conducted between 2002 and 2010 looked at problems with medicine among children under six years old. The study found that the number of mistakes grew over that time, except for cough and cold remedies.

25 children died during the span of the study. Over a quarter of the mistakes involved giving them the same medication twice.
