CHICAGO (WLS) -- Alex Tomanovich and his son, Noah, joined ABC7 Eyewitness News to talk about Walk the Walk for Autism, which benefits Charlie's Gift Center for Autism and Related Disorders. The walk is scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m. on April 26.

WHO WILL WIN THE BIG BLUE SHOE?

On Sunday, April 26, one deserving school will be the recipient of Charlie's Gift "Big Blue Shoe" in our local community. This exciting honor is given to the school with the highest percentage of participants at the "Walk the Walk" for Autism to be held at The Community House, 415 West Eighth Street in Hinsdale. This three-mile walk is open to the entire community and will commence at 8:30 am as you travel through the streets of scenic Hinsdale.

"Walk the Walk" for Autism awards some excellent prizes and incentives in the following categories:

-Top Student Fundraiser will receive a special prize and recognition

-Top Fundraising Team will win a Pizza Party at school lunch

-The School with the highest percentage of participants will be awarded the BIG BLUE SHOE trophy!

Proceeds from the Walk will support the programs and services provided by Charlie's Gift Center for Autism and Related Disorders, a program of The Community House.

Services include: Behavioral/Counseling services, Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy and a variety of social and recreational activities.

As a community-wide resource serving the Chicago metro area, Charlie's Gift raises awareness of the impact of Autism on families.
