Crowds gather for Chicago Triathlon

CHICAGO (WLS) -- It was a bit hazy early Saturday as more than 9,000 athletes took part in the Chicago Triathlon.

Part of the event included swimming in Monroe Harbor and running through Grant Park.

Around 50,000 people showed up to cheer on participants.

Proceeds from the triathlon benefit several causes.

Greg Bennett of Boulder, Colo. took first place in the male professional division, while Alicia Kaye of Clermont, Florida led all female professionals.
