A Boulder, Colo., couple says they have fallen victim to the self-proclaimed Gnome Liberation Front, a gnome snatcher, who grabbed the garden guard from their front yard, KMGH-TV reports.
The couple later received an email from the GLF that included an explanation of the theft that claimed the couple didn't respect the gnome because they hadn't named him. The GLF named him Elvis.
"You see me here, go out fast, for I am gone, free at last."
The Smiths are known for their love of magic.
"My husband's a very magical person, and he loves to collect things that have kind of magical qualities, so we have some in the house as well," said Kistine Jensen Smith, victim.
But even Kristine is stumped by this latest disappearing act.
"Many a snowstorm I have endured... while guarding your yard like a Roman slave."
"It's funny, but also a little eerie to think people come and take something out of your yard," Smith said.
On Saturday, they received an email. They were the latest gnomenapping victims. The Gnome Liberation Front it said was behind the whole heist.
"'Gnomeland Security,' that's a good one," Smith laughs reading the email.
The Smiths didn't even realize their gnome was missing until they got those emails on Saturday and a picture
"They said they renamed him Elvis and that we didn't have respect for him because we never named him, so I don't think we'll ever see him again," she said.
The Smiths are pretty sure their gnome is forever lost in Gnomeman's Land, they just hope the others don't follow.
