Human remains found along Lake Michigan last year identified

KENOSHA COUNTY, Wis. (WLS) -- Human remains found last year along Lake Michigan in Kenosha County, Wis., have been identified, the sheriff's department said Monday.

Officers responded around 3 p.m. on Dec. 28, 2016, to the shoreline in the 1100-block of Sheridan Road in Somers, Wis., where remains that appeared to be human had been discovered, the sheriff's office said.

The remains were sent to the University of North Texas Center for Human Identification for an anthropologic exam. DNA collected during the examination and family members helped identify the remains as those of Jonce Robinson, Jr., a 38-year-old man from Waukegan, Ill.

The manner and cause of death are undetermined, authorities said.
