Man sentenced in murder of Brudder's Bar bouncer killed by stray bullet in Irving Park

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A Logan Square man was sentenced Monday in the murder of a bouncer at Brudder's Bar in the Chicago's Irving Park neighborhood.[br /][br /]Felix Valentin, of the 2200-block of North Avers Avenue, was charged with first-degree murder after he was identified as the person who fired shots at the popular bar around 11:45 p.m. on April 2, 2016.[br /][Ads /][br /][url HREF="http://abc7chicago.com/news/man-shot-in-irving-park-bar/1274140/" TARGET="_blank" REL=""]RELATED: Man shot in Irving Park bar[/url][/b][br /][br /]Investigators who examined surveillance video of the shooting said the gunfire came from an alley across the street in the 3600-block of North Pulaski Road.[br /][br /]Angel Ortiz, 51, was standing near the front door when another bullet came through a window and struck him in the head. He was transported in critical condition to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where he died the next day.[br /][br /][url HREF="http://abc7chicago.com/news/bouncer-dies-after-irving-park-bar-shooting/1275268/" TARGET="_blank" REL=""]RELATED: Bouncer dies after Irving Park bar shooting[/url][/b][br /][br /]Investigators said they did not believe Ortiz was the intended target.[br /][br /]Ortiz had a full-time job, but helped with door security at Brudder's to make extra cash. His family said they worried about him working as a bouncer, but said he always told them not to be concerned.
