1 dead in Oak Forest crash; NB I-57 closed at Flossmoor for investigation

OAK FOREST, Ill. (WLS) -- A fatal crash shut down the northbound lanes of I-57 at Flossmoor near south suburban Oak Forest around 9:30 p.m., police said.

State police said the two-car crash caused serious injuries and the shutdown will last for several hours at. One person was killed, and others sustained minor injuries, according to police. The immediate circumstances of the crash and any details about the fatality were not released. An investigation by state police is ongoing.

Drivers should seek alternate routes. Northbound lanes will reopen overnight.
