1 injured in rollover crash on Lake Shore Drive near Oak Street curve

CHICAGO (WLS) -- One person was seriously hurt in a rollover crash that shut down northbound Lake Shore Drive between Chicago Avenue and the Oak Street curve for about an hour early Friday morning.

Police said the single-vehicle crash occurred just before Oak Street around 4 a.m.

Several ambulances responded to the scene. First responders closed all northbound lanes of Lake Shore Drive while they worked to free the people trapped inside the overturned vehicle.

They were able get everyone out and reopen the lanes around 5:20 a.m. One person was transported in serious condition to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where the patient's condition stabilized.

Investigators are looking into what caused the crash.
