CHICAGO (WLS) -- One person was killed and another injured in separate incidents on the Eisenhower Expressway Saturday night, police said.

A man was struck by a car and killed after running onto the expressway at an inbound exit, police said. Investigators are unsure why he ran onto the expressway.

About 30 minutes later at the same exit, a man was shot after another person allegedly tried to rob him at a gas station in the West Garfield Park neighborhood, police said.

There was confusion because the victim tried to drive himself to the hospital, but only made it to the Kedzie exit ramp of the expressway when he had to call for help, officials said.

He is at Stroger hospital in critical condition.
