CHICAGO --Ji Suk Yi (Ji or JiJi to friends) is the Social Media Contributor and resident foodie on "Windy City LIVE." Ji Suk was born in South Korea, moving to the U.S. when she was five years old. She grew up in North Carolina eating southern soul food alongside kimchi.
Exposure to a wide range of foods early on and cooking with her adventurous mom-- who is a canning and pickling queen -- led to Ji Suk's love of all things food!
Ji Suk attended Salem College and went on to get her law degree at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. But she soon realized her heart was truly set on journalism and decided Chicago was the best city in the nation to learn about news. For Ji Suk, it was love at first sight.
She has been in the ABC 7 Chicago family since November 2006. Starting off as a desk assistant in the newsroom, Ji Suk has also worked as a field producer, web producer and fill-in news writer for Channel 7 News. She helped cover the Rod Blagojevich trial the first time around. While she has covered everything from breaking news to Chicago politics, Ji Suk thinks the best part of being out in the field was getting to meet everyday Chicagoans who had unique stories or who found themselves in extraordinary circumstances. Among her favorite celebrity interviews are Betty White, Elton John, and Evan Lysacek.
