CHICAGO (WLS) -- Chicago's Shedd Aquarium has welcomed its newest rescue dog, a 10-month-old dachshund/terrier mix.

Named after a character from "Finding Nemo", Peach was originally rescued from a shelter in the southern U.S. after she was found tied to a Dumpster, Shedd said in a press release Thursday.

She was later brought to the Anti-Cruelty Society in Chicago, who identified her as a candidate for the aquarium's rehabilitation program.

Peach is the sixth dog to be rescued by the Shedd. She joins three other rescue dogs currently cared for by Shedd staff.

Peach's trainers said she enjoys squeaky toys, chew bones and tennis balls and is on her way to learning basic commands like "sit" and "seat".

Two other rescued dogs who participated in the training program have since been adopted, Shedd said.
