City workers took down an igloo that was constructed during last week's storms, calling it a safety hazard.

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Maybe you saw it - either in-person or online - but the igloo someone built in the middle of Wacker Drive is now gone.

City workers took down the igloo Friday morning. It went up after last week's storms.

Mysterious igloo built in downtown Chicago

A man who lives across the street says he wanted to remove snow from walkways in a creative way. It drew a lot of attention, but the city called it a safety hazard.

The igloo builder is not upset it got torn down, but he does want the city to change how snow is removed downtown.

"I'm a little disappointed the people in suits and ties don't understand that you really do need to get the snow up off the street," said David Sudler, who built the igloo.

Sudler thinks the igloo would have lasted until June if it had not been torn down.
