CHICAGO (WLS) -- Illinois is facing a teacher shortage.

According to a new survey, 60 percent of school districts across the state are having trouble filling positions.

The problem appears to be the number of qualified candidates in comparison to the number of teachers leaving the state for other opportunities.

The study found secondary schools are seeing the biggest dropoff and schools in rural and Central Illinois are having the hardest time filling positions.
