A hit-and-run crash investigation shut down the inbound Eisenhower Expressway near Lavergne Avenue for more than an hour overnight.

Illinois State Police responded to a two-vehicle crash involving around 10:45 p.m. Monday. When they arrived, the driver of the vehicle that was struck said two men in the other car had run from the scene after their car stalled.

The driver of the vehicle that was struck was not injured in the crash.

A witness said he heard shots fired, but didn't actually see anyone fire a gun.

There were bullet holes in the offending vehicle, which state police learned was wanted in a carjacking in Chicago. Area Central police said the two men who stole the car have gang ties. It is unclear whether the bullet holes were made when the car was stolen or in the incident overnight.

State police closed all lanes of the inbound Eisenhower near Lavergne to look for shell casings. None were found. All lanes reopened around midnight.
