BENSENVILLE, Ill. (WLS) -- Residents are on edge after several burglaries or attempted residential burglaries were reported in suburban Bensenville in the last week or so.

Generally, the burglars have gotten into homes and taken computers, electronics, jewelry and even bottles of liquor. And at one home, they found car keys and stole a car.

In one of the instances, police said the victim was at home when someone tried to break in. He set off his car alarm and it scared them away. In the process, he was able to identify the car the suspects got into.

Police released a picture of a silver Chevy Malibu that the suspects may have been spotted in. The photo was captured by a neighborhood surveillance camera

"We put an alert out to all the police departments last week when it happened, and we also this weekend put out an alert to the general public asking their help in locating these individuals," Bensenville Police Chief Frank Kosman said.

Police have put out an alert in the community, as well as Bensenville's Facebook page, which includes a picture of the car. They are hoping to spread the word to help find the suspects and keep it from happening again.
