CHICAGO (WLS) -- Police are looking for a man who stole a car from a woman at gunpoint on Chicago's North Side. She drives for Uber and Lyft.

Police said the 35-year-old female driver was standing next to her black Honda near West Sheridan Road and North Pine Grove Avenue in the city's Lakeview neighborhood around 8:30 p.m. Monday. That's when a man walked up to her, told her he had a gun, knocked her down and sped off in her vehicle.

Witnesses said they saw him get out of another car before the carjacking. When he had stolen the victim's vehicle, the other car took off with him.

About five minutes later, police found the Honda abandoned in the middle of traffic on inner Lake Shore Drive near West Belmont Avenue. Police said the suspect did not steal the female driver's purse. It was found inside her car.

No one was hurt in the carjacking.

No one is in custody. Police did not give a detailed description of the suspect.

The driver was carjacked on a corner where people constantly walk their dogs.

"She was not hurt, but she seemed upset and, you know, talking to the police officer giving him all the details," said neighbor Erica Greiner.

"It's freaky. I've lived here for almost 20 years, so yeah, it's scary when it's in your neck of the woods," said Kristine Gaylord.

A spokesperson for Lyft says they are looking into the details of the brazen attack.
