WINFIELD, Ill. (WLS) -- A pickup truck crashed into a home in unincorporated Winfield. More than half of the house will have to be replaced.

A vehicle crashed into a home at 28W030 Roosevelt Road in unincorporated Winfield.

DuPage County Sheriff's deputies responded to a home in the area of 28W030 Roosevelt Road around 6 a.m. Monday and found a giant hole in the residence. The truck was sitting in what used to be the living room. Shortly before 8 a.m., authorities pulled the vehicle out of the house.

No one in the home was injured. The driver was taken to Central DuPage Hospital as a precaution.

Helen Arnold has owned the home for more than 20 years. She was at work at the time of the crash. Her nephew and his fiancee were inside the house, but nowhere near where the damage occurred.

"I got a call and rushed home to see what the problem was and I saw a truck on the house. I thought it was an elderly person who had a stroke or something to do that kind of damage," Arnold said.

Sheriff's deputies said the driver was a young man, who slid off the road. The section of Roosevelt Road near the home was icy Monday morning, but investigators have not determined whether the ice caused the accident.
