Two Northwestern University students were robbed at their home near the Evanston campus.

School officials said around 2 a.m. Tuesday, a man broke a window in the back door of their second-floor apartment in the 600-block of Clark Street.

The thief said he had a gun, but never showed one. Officials said he got away with the students' laptops and wallets.

The students were not hurt. They called 911. Northwestern police and Evanston police both responded. They searched for the man, but did not find him.

Campus police asked everyone on campus to stay alert, especially at night. Anyone with information regarding the burglary should contact Northwestern police at 847-491-3456 or Evanston police at 847-866-5000.
