A South Side church destroyed by a fire and set to be demolished has received enough money for it to be rebuilt.

The Shrine of Christ the King was destroyed by a fire in October when it was undergoing renovations.

Even though it's a Chicago landmark the Chicago Archdiocese planned to demolish the building because it cost too much to rebuild it.

But the Preservation Chicago Organization received $450,000 from anonymous donors to keep the landmark.

The archdiocese says it needs to review re-building plans for the church before it makes a decision on the future of the church.
