Aurora man convicted of sexually assaulting child, trying to do same to sibling

ST. CHARLES, Ill. -- A 61-year-old west suburban man who sexually assaulted a child, then tried to do the same to the victim's sibling, has been sentenced to 17 years in prison, according to prosecutors.

Donald Fifelski of the 400 block of North Avenue in Aurora agreed last week to a plea deal, getting 17 years in exchange for pleading guilty to predatory criminal sexual assault, a Class X felony; and indecent solicitation of a minor, according to a statement from the Kane County state's attorney's office.

Prosecutors showed that between June 2010 and June 2014, Fifelski sexually assaulted a child under the age of 12. He then "solicited the victim's young sibling to do the same," but the second child, also under 12, said no.

Circuit Judge John Barsanti accepted the plea agreement and sentenced Fifelski to 10 years for indecent solicitation and seven years for sexual assault, prosecutors said. He must also register for life as a sexual offender.

By law, he must serve at least 85 percent of the sexual assault sentence, and is eligible for day-for-day sentencing on the indecent solicitation conviction. He was given credit for at least 350 days served in the Kane County jail.
