PHOENIX, Ariz. -- A Phoenix police officer had quite the conundrum when a Chihuahua ran under his cruiser, climbed up into the undercarriage, and refused to come out.

Lt. Tom Van Dorn told ABC15 Arizona the pooch was part of a pack of small dogs running around in an area he was patrolling Wednesday.

"I'm a dog owner, I'm also a huge animal lover in general particularly when it comes to dogs," Lt. Van Dorn said.

Phoenix police say the dog was stuck for about 20 to 30 minutes and wouldn't budge, not even when a hot dog was offered.

Eventually, the dog was rescued with the help of Maricopa County Animal Care & Control officials. It will be put up for adoption if no one claims it.
