State's Attorney Debate

CHICAGO (WLS) -- The hotly contested race for Cook County State's Attorney had all three candidates trading barbs Thursday night.

Challengers Kim Foxx and Donna Moore flanked incumbent Anita Alvarez at a debate at WTTW's studio.

The candidates' criticism of each other was direct and, at times, seemingly personal.

"She's a lair - if you apply for a job and you lie on that job application, you don't get the job," Alvarez said about Foxx. "She's lying to the voters of Cook County, she's lying about her experience."

"Anita Alvarez is a two-term incumbent - and has caused our criminal justice system to be the laughing stock of the nation," Foxx said.

"This is the problem - when you have no record to run on, you have to find something to damage other people - and Ms. Alvarez has no record," More said.

This was the last debate scheduled between the three candidates before Tuesday's election.
