CHICAGO (WLS) -- Police have issued a warning about a series of robberies in Chicago's Chinatown neighborhood.

There have been three attacks in the last couple of days.

It's happening in broad daylight, in the morning hours. Police say a man in his 20s has approached people on the street in the heart of Chinatown's commercial district and demanded money or property. Many who live or work in the neighborhood are concerned.

"It's always been a safe area," said Sharon Burns.

It's the second time in about a month Chinatown has been on alert because of robberies. The Chinese American Service League has hosted town hall meetings to alert residents. Chinatown is also a big tourist destination, and leaders are concerned.

"This is a very safe community," said Bernie Wong/CASL president.

Police have also put out tips, advising those in the area to be aware of surroundings, report suspicious activity, and if confronted - remain calm.
