911 calls obtained from deadly I-90 construction accident

CHICAGO (WLS) -- ABC7 has obtained the calls for help just after a deadly construction accident in the northern suburbs.

Operator: Fire Department, what's the address of your emergency.

Caller: Uh, Touhy Avenue right underneath 90.

Operator: What's going on there?

Caller: Uh, we were, they were demoing a bridge and a beam fell. A couple guys were in a manlift.

The accident killed Vicente Santoyo, 47, and injured three others on Tuesday. A 45-ton steel beam fell from I-90 onto Touhy Avenue in Des Plaines.

OSHA investigators say a strap or chain supporting the beam may have failed and that the accident could have been prevented.
