Neighbor charged in double-murder in Lyons
John Arnold, 67, is charged in the stabbing deaths of two of his neighbors at a senior living facility in suburban Lyons.

LYONS, Ill. (WLS) -- A man is charged in the stabbing deaths of two of his neighbors at a senior living facility in suburban Lyons.

John Arnold, 67, is charged with two counts of first-degree murder. Lyons police say he lived at River Walk Senior Residences, as did both of the victims.

Police identified one of the victims as David Bosseler, 73. The name of the other victim, a 51-year-old female, will not be released until relatives can be contacted.

Investigators said that Bosseler and the female victim got into an argument with Arnold over the weekend about missing property. Arnold allegedly told police that Bosseler had taken the property.

Following the argument, police say Arnold waited outside Bosseler's apartment until the door opened, then attacked both victims with a large knife early Sunday morning. They were each stabbed multiple times, police said.

Police said they made the gruesome discovery Monday afternoon during a well-being check.

"I couldn't believe it that something like that could happen in my building," said Paul Bednar, a resident who knew at least one of the victims. "I didn't know him personally. I live on the same floor that he lived on. He lived down the hallway. We exchanged pleasantries from time to time when I seen him."

Arnold is scheduled to appear in bond court Wednesday morning.
