New pet owners seeking Paw-ternity leave in the US

It's a growing trend across the pond: paw-ternity leave.

Some employers in the UK are giving new pet owners paid time off to care for their new additions.

This week, one woman's letter in the New York Post is going viral.

She says US pet owners deserve family leave, too.

Lindsay Putnam says animals and their new parents also need time to adjust to life together and that there's little sympathy in the workplace here for people caring for what's affectionately known as a "fur baby."

As you can imagine, her article is eliciting strong opinions on both sides of the pet aisle.
