JOLIET, Ill. (WLS) -- A 7-week-old stray kitten was rescued Friday morning from a storm sewer in southwest suburban Joliet.

The Joliet Fire Department responded to the 1200-block of Taylor Road, where a firefighter had noticed the kitten in the sewer Thursday night. When he came to work, he enlisted his colleagues to help the kitten.

Once the kitten was rescued, they used an oxygen pet mask and gave it water with sugar mixed in.

The cat was named Embers.
