Southern Illinois University student in serious condition after falling off a bluff

MOUNT PROSPECT, Ill. (WLS) -- A Southern Illinois University student is in serious condition after falling off a bluff Monday at Giant City State Park.

Jamie Maughan was with a group of students who decided to leave the hiking path. She fell 40 feet. She was airlifted to a hospital and is intensive care.

Maughan, a freshman at SIU, is from Mount Prospect.

Her mother says Jamie has a long road ahead of her but that she is showing signs of improvement every day.
