8 injured in CTA bus crash on South Side

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Eight people were hurt in a crash involving a CTA bus in the Chatham neighborhood on Chicago's South Side.

The CTA said a southbound No. 4 Cottage Grove bus was struck head on by a car near 81st Street at 8:45 a.m. Monday. Another vehicle then slammed into the back of the bus.

Eight people - including five passengers on the bus - were taken to hospitals from the crash, according to the Chicago Fire Dept.

One person was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in serious-to-critical condition, and seven others were transported to local hospitals in fair-to-serious condition.
