CHICAGO (WLS) -- A judge on Wednesday denied bail for Kevin Edwards, the third man arrested and charged in connection with the shooting death of 9-year-old Tyshawn Lee.

Edwards is accused of driving the get-away car, during the gang execution of Lee last November.

A judge in court on Wednesday says the crime, "shocked the city to the core and shocked the nation" because the victim was so young.

Anthony Guglielmi, Chicago Police Department Communications Director, tweeted about the murder charges Wednesday morning.

Edwards, 23, was taken into custody May 14 in downstate Danville.

Two other men are charged in Tyshawn's murder. Police said in November 2015, Corey Morgan lured the child into the alley where Dwright Boone-Doty shot the boy several times at close range.

Investigators believe the murder was part of a gang retaliation against Tyshawn's father, Pierre Stokes.

Investigators say the case is now closed.
