PRESS RELEASE

LAPORTE COUNTY, Ind. - The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) announces ramps at the I-94 interchange (Exit 34B Ramp) of U.S. 421 (Both U.S. 421 Ramps) will be temporarily closed Friday May 20 through the end of June. Crews will be resurfacing the ramps and adding upgrades to the entire interchange at that location.

The work schedule is subject to change in the event of inclement weather. INDOT reminds motorists to use caution and consider worker safety when driving through a construction zone.

Graphical representation of closures and detours:

The westbound I-94 exit (Exit 34B) to northbound US-421 will be closed. To access Michigan City from WB I-94 the official detour will route traffic to SR-49 (Exit 26A) where traffic will take two loop ramps which will place traffic on eastbound I-94. Traffic will then take the 34B exit from eastbound I-94 to enter Michigan City. The two following images show this detour highlighted in green. (11 miles)
