WEST CHICAGO, Ill. (WLS) -- Teenagers who want to take to the skies have an opportunity fly thanks to a local organization.
Tuskegee NEXT offers an 8-week flight training program at DuPage Airport. After completion during summer break, cadets earn their pilots' license. Students are accepted to Tuskegee NEXT between ages 16-19. The program hopes to train and support 100 minority Chicago-area youth in obtaining their pilots license by the year 2025.
To help reach their goal, Tuskegee NEXT is hosting a Run the Runway 5K on Saturday, May 21, 2016 beginning at 8 a.m. The race will allow runners the chance to jog at the DuPage County Airport in West Chicago. Tickets are $55 and you can register right before the race. Patrick Brady, who is on the Board of Directors for Tuskegee NEXT, joined ABC 7 before the race to talk about the event and the legacy of Tuskegee NEXT.
