Military widow gets a home makeover

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A widow with several generations' worth of ties to the military is getting a helping hand.

The Sears' "Heroes at Home" gave Teressa McNeal's home in Chicago's Austin neighborhood a makeover.

McNeal's late husband served in Vietnam, her son served in the Navy and her grandson is currently stationed in Alaska with the Air Force.

McNeal has fought some battles of her own. She beat both lung and skin cancer.

On Wednesday, those heroes helped with some painting, landscaping and carpentry work.
