CHICAGO (WLS) -- The hosts were shooting scenes this week for upcoming "Wheel of Fortune" shows that will feature our city.

The hit gameshow "Wheel of Fortune" was back in town to celebrate all that is Chicago with its Great American Cities theme. Pat Sajak, Vanna White and the crew spent 2 1/2 days taping inserts and promos at iconic locations, spectacular skylines and popular eateries. The actual shows for this Chicago week will be taped later in Los Angeles and air next year.

"In the past, we've shot shows in various cities, as we have here in Chicago, but I'm gonna be honest with you, it's very expensive to travel with 150 people, and I have to put the Wheel in the overhead compartment in the plane, it's very difficult!" Sajak said.

Since Sajak is a Chicagoan, one would assume he was the consultant for the Chicago locations Wheel used.

"I'm consulted on very little on this show, even my pants someone hands to me," Sajak said.

Speaking of wardrobe, Vanna came with a casual Chicago look.

"I've gone through all the different fashions throughout all these years and I've never worn the same dress twice never ever never ...over six thousand outfits," White said.

"When you ask Vanna what she does for a living, she says, 'I touch TVs and they light up.' She gets it, she's just fun to be with, and the crew loves her and everyone loves her, she's a sweetheart," Sajak said.

Sajak grew up around 31st and Kedzie, graduated from Farragut High School and went to Columbia College.

"I think when we're done shooting I'm gonna hop in the car and go see what's going on in the hood," Sajak said. "I think no matter how long you've been away and all you have to do is put a Chicago dog in front of me and I'm putty in your hands."

So, for a Great American City Chicago Show you need Chicago contestants. On the weekend of June 4-5, the Wheelmobile will be here for auditions.
