Metra train service restored after switching problem at Union Station

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Three Metra lines experienced train delays Monday evening for several hours due to switching problem at Union Station, a Metra spokesperson said.

Train service returned to normal Monday night.

Crowds of commuters gathered during the evening rush hour as the problem impacted trains on the BNSF, Southwest and Heritage Corridor lines.

The switching problem was on the south end of the station.
