CHICAGO (WLS) -- Police are searching for a man suspected in the attempted sexual assault of a woman who was riding her bike in Chicago's Bridgeport neighborhood.

She was riding through an alley in the 3200-block of South Wells Street around 12:15 a.m. Saturday when investigators said the man came up to her and tried to pull her off her bike, while exposing himself.

He took off in a small, red or maroon sedan that may have had a rear spoiler.

The victim told police he was a Hispanic or Middle Eastern man with a light complexion, brown eyes, black, crew-cut hair and a thin beard. He was about 5 ft. 8 in. tall, weighs around 185 pounds and was wearing a dark-colored tank top and knee-length shorts.

Police urge residents to be aware of their surroundings and report any suspicious activity immediately.

Neighbors said incidents like these are out of the ordinary.

"No, I've never heard of anything like that going on here. I was always told it was a nice, safe neighborhood. I'm definitely going keep an eye out. I drive for Uber, so I'm up by that time. So, I'm always going to keep an eye out," said Michael Attaccha, who lives in the area.

Anyone with information regarding the attempted assault should call Area Central detectives at 312-747-8380.
