Video: Vandals damage cars in Naperville garage
Police have released pictures and videos and are offering a reward after vandals damaged several cars in a Naperville parking garage.

NAPERVILLE, Ill. (WLS) -- Police have released pictures and videos after vandals damaged several cars in a Naperville parking garage.

"It seems like a very random act. It doesn't appear that there was-- without talking to these individuals, we won't know what the intent is until that time," says Cmdr. Jason Arres, Naperville Police Department.

A group of six males and one female, who appears to be filming video the whole time, are seen in the video walking up the stairwell at the garage on Chicago Avenue. Investigators say the group walked all over the cars, jumping on them at random. The vandalism occurred on May 8 around 2 a.m. on the top parking deck in a city-owned lot in downtown Naperville.

"It almost seems like they were out there as a big prank, not realizing the amount of damage that they did to people's property," Arres says.

Police have posted the video and a number of still images of the suspects on social media and have gotten tens of thousands of views already but at this point they have yet to identify any of the suspects.

"We don't have any real leads on this case thusfar, so until we get those to identify who these individual might be we won't know where they're from," says Arres.

Police say the cars were all heavily damaged. In addition to smashed roofs and hood, they broke the rear windshield on one of the cars. The total damages is likely to run several thousand dollars. Still pictures captured in the garage stairwell show the faces of each of the seven suspects pretty clearly.

Police are offering a $1,000 reward for their capture. Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 630-420-6006 or visitwww.napervillecrimestoppers.com.
