CHICAGO (WLS) -- A Chicago student-athlete who spends her free time helping strangers was rewarded with a new set of wheels.

Madison Ekern received a new Jeep Wrangler in front of her classmates at Whitney Young High School.

The soccer player was selected from a more than 100 entries in a campaign called, "Making a Difference On and Off the Field."

The 18-year old volunteers at a food pantry and submitted an entry about her experience.

"It just really shows that everything you do really matters and it has an impact on everyone," Ekern said.

Ekern is headed to college this fall, where she plans to study education.
