HOUSTON -- A 4-year old boy died after police said he was run over by a wrecker truck while riding his tricycle in northeast Houston Wednesday night.

HPD have identified the male victim as Nestor Delao Jr.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant C. Williams and Officer B. Roberts reported that Nestor was riding a Big Wheel toy in the cul-du-sac on Kerry Glen Lane near Mesa Road just before 9pm.

It's being reported that two boys, ages 4 and 5, were playing outside. The 5-year-old was on a bicycle and the 4-year-old was on the big wheel. Police say the wrecker driver was headed westbound on Kerry Glen Lane when the 4-year-old rolled out in front of him. The driver was unable to stop in time.

The 4-year-old was taken to Memorial Hermann in the Medical Center, where he later died.

The wrecker driver was being evaluated by police and charges will be determined pending the outcome of the investigation.

Reports state that the driver was bringing a car to the neighbors house but it's unclear if the wrecker driver was speeding or if the road was poorly lit.
