HOUSTON -- A northwest Harris County man jumped into action after an intruder climbed into his parents' bed and tried to assault his mother, deputies said.

George A. Smith is charged with burglary to a habitation with the intent to commit assault.

According to the Harris County Constable Pct. 4's Office, Smith broke into the family's home in the 11800 block of Hillbrook Drive on Monday. He climbed into the homeowners' bed and then tried to pull the woman's pants off.

"He went up to my mom and started trying to take off her pants and that's when my mom was like John get out of here go get JP," John Paul said.

Deputies say the woman instructed her husband to go grab their son. The couple's 24-year-old son ran into the bedroom, and together with his father, they pulled Smith off his mother and held him until deputies arrived at the scene.

Smith told authorities he was intoxicated and may have been trying to get into the wrong house. He was taken to a hospital for further medical evaluation.

"Although this suspect's intention are still unknown, we are thankful that other family members were at home to fight off this attacker," Constable Mark Herman said in a prepared statement. "Also the three minute response time from Precinct 4 Deputies aided in getting this suspect in custody quickly!"

Smith is being held at the Harris County Jail on a $20,000 bond.
