Person on tracks suspends Red Line service on South Side

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Red Line service was suspended Wednesday morning on the city's South Side after a person ended up on the CTA train tracks.

It's unclear how the person got onto the track. But the Chicago Fire Department says they responded to the 87th Street station and found a person unconscious on the tracks. The body was taken to St. Bernard Hospital. The coroner's office has not confirmed a death, but the CFD called the effort a "recovery."

The person landed on the southbound tracks around 7 a.m.

The CTA suspended service from 95th to 69th streets. Shuttle buses were running.
