The Silver Room Sound System Block Party is celebrating cultural diversity through expression, music and art on Saturday, July 16, 2016. This is the 13th Annual event, which has grown each year since it began back in 2002. What started as a small gathering of friends and family of The Silver Room, the event has grown into a vibrant and diverse neighborhood gathering in Hyde Park.
Because the Silver Room Sound System Block Party is an artist-driven event, organizers are putting out a call for artists to participate in "100 Canvases for Freedom, Love, Joy & Peace." This exhibition will be the primary fundraiser for the block party. Submissions are being accepted until Wednesday, July 13, 2016. All mediums are welcome.
The Silver Room Sound System Block Party also features music and performers. Eric Williams, creator of the block party, and Priya Narayan from the Kalapriya Center for Indian Performing Arts, joined ABC7 in-studio to talk about the upcoming event, and give a sneak-peak performance.
